PARENT SEMINAR SUNDAY'S at CAMILLE's

SUNDAY MAY 7TH

FINAL PARTY (and a little planning)

12pm - 2pm

SMART GOALS FOR SUMMER MAINTENANCE

School is almost out and the weight of academic expectation is off the shoulder of your child. So how are you going to keep your child motivated to read and write to maintain their learned skills.

This seminar will be more of a "final party" and workshop with your child. The plan is for us to have food and liveliness. We will begin with a 10 minute instruction of the craft and then rotate family by family through a summer planning. Playing and laughter encouraged during the rotation.

GOAL: Come make a plan with me. Be prepared to use your summer schedule, daily routine of summer and summer goals. I hope for you to leave with a plan to keep you and your child motivated to maintain good reading habits over the summer.

  • The seminar is intended for parent/s + child (no siblings please!)
  • RSVP is necessary to accommodate supplies
  • This is a party potluck so please bring a finger food and drink to share for 6.

Thank you for taking a quick moment to RSVP to me today so I can be best prepared.

Whoo hoo! It's been a great semester. (Let's hope for good weather so we can be outside.

Executive Function (part 2): Take Away Accommodations For the Classroom

About this time of the school year parents face the challenge of reviewing the accommodations provided for their child in the classroom. What worked andwhat needs updating .

In this interactive seminar, I will be reviewing eight core areas of Executive Function as defined by Russell Barkley, MD (see video from Executive Function part 1 in Student Resources). Following the review I will hand out a menu of accommodations (adapted from Stephanie Sarkis, PhD) and we will discuss, modify and add to the list to make it relevant to your child.

Come join me in honoring children's individuality as learners and accommodating their needs.

  • The seminar is intended for a parent audience (no students please)
  • RSVP is necessary to accommodate seating
  • Space may be limited to one adult per family

EXECUTIVE FUNCTION = REGULATION

What happens when it is not "functioning"?

In this interactive seminar, I will be discussing a "condition" where students suffer from distractibility, restlessness, impulsivity and the inability to "stick to it."

Come join me in exploring and experiencing how to improve student executive function and lower the anxiety associated with it.

Parent Seminar Sundays at Camille's

Improving Fluency

There are four key elements to reading:

Phonemic Awareness - Decoding - Fluency -Comprehension

In this interactive seminar, I will be discussing Fluency; improving how smooth and accurate your child reads. Fluency is measured in speed, though ironically, speed is not the goal. Students comprehension and enjoyment of text is highly improved by how smooth and accurate they can read text.

Come join me in exploring and experiencing how to improve student fluency in a fun, regulated environment.

  • The seminar is intended for a parent audience (no students please)
  • RSVP is necessary to accommodate seating
  • Space may be limited to one adult per family
